Are there budget priced guided day hikes to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite?

The only way to go to the top of half Dome is to go on your own, unless you go by horse. Of course going by horse will not quite get you to the top. If you really want to hike half dome, you must leave very early in the morning(5 to 6am), bring your own food and plenty of water, and MUST be in great physical shape. It takes at least 12 hours to do the hike. You can make it a two dayer by camping at little yosemite, but getting reservations to camp there is rather difficult.
