Why are people repulsed by gay people like Adam Lambert but not Ricky Martin?

To answer it simply, i believe it was because Adam Lambert was a bit too open about his gayness and many people were offended by it. Ricky Martin on the other handed didn't go live on television and kiss other men. He kept it to himself and i'm sure he had his moments, but at least people who are offended by gay people didn't have to see it, thus still appreciate Ricky Martin as a musician. =)
