Why does the school teach us pointless little tidbits of info?

they might not know what we will be, but why... i know what i'll be so i wont need to know how to equalize atoms in a molecule, or how the pythagorean theorum is proven. i just want to kill myself when my social studies teacher starts teaching us about ancient egypt or how islam came to be... all i want to accomplish in life, is to get married (possible), start a small diner, and be able to hang out with my brother sister and brother in law in Mandan ND... but do i really need to know the pointless stuff as said in the beginning?
